Kakadu National Park

E phatlaladitšwe: 20.08.2017

A few days later, all the girls except Nadja continued on their journey. After a farewell party, the girls continued in the morning and for us (Nadja, Flo, Chris, Robb, and me) for a day in Kakadu National Park. The park is huge and one can actually spend days there.

We were at the Gunlom Falls. The last part of the road was very bumpy. It is actually recommended to drive the road only with a four-wheel drive car. Since we didn't have that, we had to manage! :-)

The waterfalls are beautiful, just like almost all waterfalls... On the mountain from which the water drips down, there are natural pools. The water is cold, but we still dared to go in and it was a wonderful refreshment. From the mountain, you have a great view over the national park. We stayed until sunset and it was worth it!

When we wanted to go down again, we suddenly smelled a strong smell of alcohol. And a few seconds later, the cause came stumbling around the corner. The guy was super drunk and then settled down to sleep on the edge of the cliff. We then tried to persuade him to come back down with us. He went along for a while, but then we lost him again. I really would like to know if he found his way down or spent the night there...

On the way back, we saw huge bushfires.

Just before Darwin, we ran over a huge python! It sounded like we ran over a big stick. Chris was very excited and said that we all had to get out of the car on the left side - as fast as possible! Sometimes, the snakes (if they survived the maneuver) are still under the car or in the wheel well for days and then eventually get INSIDE the car. We therefore searched everything inside and under the car, but fortunately, the snake was no longer there! :-)
