Angkor Wat

E phatlaladitšwe: 06.05.2018

With a heavy heart, I left Don Det. Next stop: Cambodia. The bus ride was terrible as usual! We started at eight in the morning and had to change buses twice. Each time it took hours before we could continue! God knows why! That's why we didn't arrive in Siem Reap as planned at five, but not until eleven in the evening.

There is actually only one reason why tourists come to Siem Reap: The temple complex of Angkor. (But the city is also very nice.) ;-)

From the 9th to the 15th century, Angkor was the center of the historical Khmer kingdom of Kambuja. The largest and most famous temple is Angkor Wat.

Together with a few guys from Germany who I met in Laos, we rented a tuk-tuk with a driver for two days. On the first day, we bought a day ticket for the next day for only $37, but we could enter the site at five and watch the sunset.

On the next day, we started at 4:30 am... The first stop of the "small temple circuit" was Angkor Wat, where we watched the sunrise with many other tourists. Very crowded, but beautiful!

We continued from temple to temple. They were really impressive! I also found it great to finally see everything live.

However, it got hotter and somehow one temple looked like another. Since two of the guys didn't feel well, we decided to head back around twelve (after 7 hours). And it was definitely enough for us.

It was annoying for me that my camera's battery died in the meantime. Exactly there!!! :-(

But luckily I was able to take some photos before that!
