The magic of the lake of Atitlan: Let's disconnect

E phatlaladitšwe: 22.04.2017

Arriving in Panajachel wasn't as exhausing as our last ride but thats probably because that one was not measurable.

As we drove towards the volcanos we were just in shock of Guatemalas beauty...again.

We decided to stay in San Marcos to have a perfect view on the 2 volcanos on the other side of the lake. To go from Panachel to San Marcos we had to take a boat ride for 25QZ each.

We thought that the lake would be the perfect place to turn our internet off and disconnect from our social media lives. This gave us a lot of time to write things down about our journey and actually arrive mentally as much as physically.

In San Marcos we planned to stay in the 'Hospedaje del lago' because we got it recommended. Sadly it was already booked out so the first night we stayed in the hostal next door. Lets just say: more than one night is what everyone stays there.

So the next 2 days we slept in our first choice hostal, where a double bed costs 160 QZ.

The rooms weren't really the best but this hostel itself is just beautiful and has the perfect spot and view on the volcanos (plus it includes a very nice breakfast).

In San Marcos we didnt do much ...we just stayed in the hostel, sat at the lake and ate at the restaurant la Flor. That was by the way the best reataurant on our whole trip so far.

San Marcos is filled with hippies and people with an esoteric life style. So for us it was the perfect choice as it was a place where you found drum sessions by the fire place and could relax.
