We were at Croke Park, which is the National Stadium of Gaelic Sports. Gaelic Football is one of the Gaelic sports, where unlike regular football, players are allowed to use their hands. Another Gaelic sport is Hurling, which is like Quidditch from Harry Potter, but without flying.
The GAA (Gaelic Athletics Association) was founded when Ireland was still part of Great Britain. The sports were meant to foster a stronger sense of national identity among the Irish and to distinguish themselves from the British. The GAA also played a major role in Ireland's independence struggles.
GAA players are actually amateurs, even those who play for their county. They don't earn any money and basically play for the love of the game.
