I actually did it, I took the first big step and got on the plane to Singapore...
If you know me, you might know that I have a fear of flying.
Even a flight to Egypt or even Mallorca can put me into panic.
When planning the trip at the beginning of the year, I pretty much ignored the distance between our destinations.
For three months, my friend Tamy and I are traveling to Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Bali.
We will mainly explore the countries in an adventurous way by camper. We already found out last year in Iceland that we can do that and get along well with each other. So I should actually be thrilled!
In the last few weeks, I actually had sleepless nights and questioned everything. I wondered if I am tough enough to fly to the other side of the world and if I could control my fears and panic.
On top of that, since August, I have been on cloud nine and wasn't sure if I could handle three months without him.
But despite all the doubts and worries, anticipation and the desire for adventure kept coming up, and the knowledge that I am not alone but starting the adventure together with Tamy.
She and everyone else in my closest circle have always encouraged me, strengthened me.
And so I managed to put my fear aside and even believe in myself!
And so last night at 10:05 pm, I got on the plane, knowing that I will be "locked up" for the next 12 hours.
I had all the lucky charms, letters, and pictures that I received from my loved ones within reach, and that gave me strength.
Inside the plane, panic overcame me for the first time and I wanted to leave the plane again, I felt like I couldn't do it.
But fortunately, there was a flight attendant right next to me who noticed my panic, calmed me down, and relieved me of my biggest fears. She took such good care of me, so caring and loving.
Even during the whole flight, she inquired about my well-being, so I could almost only feel comfortable.
I don't want to say that I enjoy flying long distances, but I imagined it to be much worse.
So I have taken the first, for me the biggest hurdle and can now proudly start the Australia/New Zealand adventure.
For the first three days, we will now spend in Singapore and then continue to Australia.
