Collecting trash with the Trash Heroes on Koh Mak and many magic moments with animals

E phatlaladitšwe: 17.11.2018

Arrived on Koh Mak (mini island south of Koh Chang) and it's thousand times more relaxed than on Koh Chang. Here, the motto is "life is easy" and it's paradise, relaxed, no cars, many like-minded people, and I feel very comfortable! :) Spending 4 days together with Esther from Rome. I met her in Bangkok and luckily we can be together here. We stay in a cute little hotel run by an Italian, we go everywhere by bike (which is tough on the legs with these crappy bikes here!) and explore the island.

Today we decided to join the "Trash Heroes Koh Mak" action. An organization where volunteers collect trash on the island once a week, which is washed up in large quantities and produced on the island. Unbelievable what we found in trash!! Especially the soft thin plastic bags buried in the sand were bad! Unfortunately, it's a never ending story if people keep going like this.. They collect 1.7 tons (!) here on Koh Mak annually through the action. Today we managed to collect 250 kg! :) afterwards we had a delicious lunch as a reward. I think if every tourist collects a little bit of trash in their radius, a lot would already be done!
