Bangkok - 30.04.2019

E phatlaladitšwe: 01.05.2019

It was as always, first you have to wait a long time for it to start and before you know it, the time is up. So today is the last day of my trip. For those who stayed behind, the time of my absence probably seemed much longer than it did for me. For me, it didn't feel like I was away for 3.5 weeks. On the one hand, I feel like time flew by very quickly, on the other hand, the time in Shanghai has been so long. But that is certainly because I have experienced so much since then.

For my last day in Bangkok, I planned to explore the more modern part of Bangkok and ventured into the maze of streets between the skyscrapers. I started my day at Lumphini Park, the green lung of Bangkok. In terms of nature, you can compare it to Central Park in New York, only there are no palm trees there. Unfortunately, I was too late to watch the morning Tai Chi groups, they are already out very early. I couldn't manage that after yesterday's intense and long day. From Lumphini Park, I walked towards Siam Square where the big, modern malls of Bangkok are supposed to be located. The streets and sidewalks in this part of the city are even busier than in other parts of the city. There are many office buildings here, so of course there is increased rush hour traffic. At Siam Square, I explored the largest mall in the city. It was announced as very modern in the travel guide. It is modern, but nothing more. Especially in some parts of the mall, I wondered if it was supposed to be like Kaufhof or if I was on the Fake Market in Shanghai. Very strange! I didn't buy anything anymore because I have already shopped for the past three weeks and I'm worried that my suitcase won't close or will become too heavy. But I have 30kg of free baggage allowance with Emirates ;-). To conclude my time in Bangkok and thus also in Thailand, I wanted to treat myself to one last massage and eat delicious Thai food one last time. My massage could have been so nice if suddenly 8 Chinese people hadn't stormed the massage salon. Thai massage salons are set up so that there is a room with an average of 12 massage chairs next to each other and you are massaged at the same time. So I was surrounded by Chinese people and tried to concentrate on my massage so that I could relax a bit. But the Chinese people were uncontrollable and really loud. They talked across the room. The Thai masseuses kept apologizing to me and saying 'No control'. Finally, I treated myself to a delicious Thai curry and a fruit shake.

My departure from Bangkok is at 01:15 am on Wednesday morning. Since I had the impression during my transfer on my flight to Koh Samui that the airport in Bangkok is really huge, I wanted to be at the airport at least 3 hours before departure. I had booked a taxi transfer through my hostel. The drive to the airport took over 1.5 hours because there was so much traffic, unbelievable! It was unimaginable what awaited me at the airport. The departure hall is huge and crowded with people. Nevertheless, all check-ins went quickly and smoothly. Due to the long distances and the fact that I am flying with an A380, there is not much time to get bored, because boarding for the A380 always starts one hour before departure. There are indeed many people who want to get on the plane. Now it is time to go home.
