Raindrops tapping on the tent wall....

E phatlaladitšwe: 08.07.2022

Today just a very short tour of 140 km.

It rained buckets all night. It's quite loud in a tent. Around 05:00 am, the rain eased a bit, but then 2 roosters started a crowing competition. That means my night was s**tty. 🤨

At 09:00 am, the rain finally stopped. So, quickly packed up the tent, strapped the luggage to the motorcycle, and set off. Right on time for departure, rain again.

We went on beautiful small and curvy roads and a stretch of gravel towards Zagreb. In between, heavy showers kept occurring. Rain itself is not a problem for me, but the roads were frequently covered with mud, sand, and gravel. So, riding wasn't fun at all. Grit your teeth and hold on until Zagreb.

In Zagreb, I quickly checked into a hotel and what can I say, from that moment on, not a single drop fell from the sky.

So, time to explore the city a bit. I found a store on Google that sells e-cigarettes, where I could buy spare parts for my vape. And on the way there, lucky me, there was also a Nolan helmet dealer where I could buy two spare parts for my helmet. I then took the tram back to the city center.

I also checked out the old town a bit. There is a lot of renovation going on here, scaffolding was set up on many prominent buildings including the cathedral. Since the end of socialism, 750 cubic meters of hewn stones have been replaced on the cathedral, some of the old stones were exhibited and it was very illustrative of the damage caused by air pollution. But even outside the old town, the socialist concrete is crumbling massively, and not just that. I think it's much more likely to get injured by falling rocks in this city than in the mountains.

Tomorrow we'll continue to Slovenia.
