After blatantly ignoring the check-out time this morning, we went to the 4 square to get breakfast and provisions for the day.
Eating yogurt in the car, we drove along the gravel road, which is very common here in NZ, to Cannibal Bay.
Upon arrival, I saw sea lions in the wild for the first time, some sleeping on the beach and some crawling around.
It's incredible how a morning like this is no longer so special, but rather become a kind of habit.
Shortly after, we took a short walk to the Historic Railway Tunnel Walk.
Then we drove to Nugget Point Lighthouse to walk on a kind of ridge to the lighthouse. We also saw a seal there.
Afterwards, we went to Roaring Bay hoping to see the Yellow-Eyed Penguins, but they are usually seen at a different time and were not there this afternoon.
After a short rest, we went to Kaka Point and then to Dunedin.
(Isn't the picture nice? 😜 - 2 seconds after taking the picture, I picked up the apples from the ground because I slightly overestimated my multitasking skills. 🙈)
By the way fact
Because the fact was mentioned recently at Faktastisch and I was also told by the people in Wanaka, I now have to tell you about the New Zealanders' flag campaign.
The lovely New Zealanders wanted a new flag and spent 17.4 million dollars to design new flags. However, in the referendum, most voted to keep the old New Zealand flag, so 17.4 million dollars were wasted. 🤦♀️ 🤷♀️
