Day 5 - Yoshi & the bridge

8 o'clock in morning and the phone tears us out of our dreams. Today we have plenty of to do's on our list. Get to the the camper renting station, pick up our van, collect some food for the next few days, find a way onto the blue mountains, meet Kevin & Hala, get back to Sydney for New Years Eve (NYE) and finally back to 117 Grose Rd at Faulconbridge.

We start our day packing the backpacks and leaving our Sydney appartment in the direction of central station. Picking a train to the airport and then a Taxi to the renting station works out well. With no hurry we pick up our camper - well our school bus as someone would say ;) Managing to drive without automatically horing all the time we let the adventure of driving left begin. In short: It works. As always we name our vehicle cause it makes us feel familiar with it and it's funny as well. We call him 'Yoshi'.

Now it's time to head to Kevin & Hala - the two lovely aussies of which we got the contact from our swiss friends. 1 hour later we arrive safely at their home. Within no time, it is our home too. They welcome us with open arms and a delicious BBQ! A couple of hours later we have learned a lot about their lives, experiences and the country. Just amazing.

Time for us to get back to SYD for NYE. Gladly Kevin is driving us to the next station to catch a train back to the center. It is a crazy night - a million of people all heading to the harbour bridge to see the famous firework. With some detours we find a great place at the observatory hill to watch it. We are the first ones to start 2023 with a big bang ;) Thanks to Kevin we get safely home at 3a.m. after picking us up at the nearby train station. With a lot of memorable impressions we are falling asleep.
