Heavy decisions

We fell asleep in the rain and woke up in even heavier rain. A light shower was reported overnight and dry conditions in the morning.

I didn't feel like getting up and leaving the camper. Luckily Michel let us sleep until 8, after he was allowed to move to Sven's just before 6 to cuddle for another round.

We spent the morning in the common room of the campsite, and there was an older couple present besides us. Very nice, but also talkative. Just like older people are like.

At breakfast we decided to head back in the evening/night. The couple's probably very reliable weather app from breakfast predicted rain in the next few days and neither of us had the nerve for bad weather anymore.

This summer vacation has now literally fallen through. I was so looking forward to a few days at the beach, with breakfast in front of the camper, walks on the beach, a little yoga and maybe jogging. And above all, I wanted to give Michel a few days off from driving.
Around midday the rain stopped and the sun came out. Sven and I went for a run and had one last camp pasta dinner outside. Anyway.
We also left Norway in sunshine and the sun is shining now as I write these lines and Sven is steadily bringing us closer to home, kilometer by kilometer.

We feel ripped off, there's no other way to say that. But if we had changed our mind (again) in the afternoon due to the good weather and stayed another night, the trouble the next morning with the wind and rain couldn't have been greater.

We promised ourselves that we would do something nice every day for at least the remaining 5 days that we are coming home earlier. It doesn't have to be anything big: a visit to the swimming pool with Michel, going out to eat, walks in the forest with the boys or an afternoon in the sauna (if grandma Nimet has time to look after her grandson).

We didn’t even “do” half of what I had in mind. But no one can do anything about bad weather. We also learned from this vacation that we prefer to stay in one place for longer and leave the car parked more often (especially with a baby).

Of course we are already making plans for Sardinia and already have campsites in mind. We book the ferry spontaneously, because in times of climate change and global warming, Sardinia is no longer a safe bet when it comes to the weather. But in any case, we still have another vacation this year and lots of family/quality time.
