Who needs Maldives

E phatlaladitšwe: 15.06.2019

Despite the storm, we slept quite well. The camper didn't tip over or roll away. Carefully, we open the door and are surprised by mild temperatures, sunshine, and calm winds. Unbelievable weather. The Chrissi cycles ahead to the bakery, where we thankfully ordered baguettes and croissants yesterday. In the sun, we enjoy our breakfast and realize that our spot is actually quite nice.

After breakfast, we wash the dishes. The dishwashing here is something completely new for us. About twenty people stand in a long row next to each other washing dishes. This makes us realize the size of the campsite even more. Luckily, we find a place to wash without having to wait.

A little later, we pack our bathing suits and cooler bag and off we go. Today, we plan to spend the whole day at the sandy beach we discovered yesterday. Hopefully, it's not too crowded and we can find a spot. Because the beach and the bay itself are beautiful - but very small. We walk along the many stairs carved into the rocks and small wooden bridges to the beach. Surprisingly, it's not crowded and we find a nice spot for ourselves.

It's quite idyllic here, sandy beach, crystal clear water that sparkles in all shades of blue and turquoise, few people, and the view of the island.

This is truly a great place to stay. Equipped with some fine things, cola, fanta, baguette sandwiches, and fruit salad, we spend a wonderfully relaxed day at the beach.

We actually have diving goggles and snorkels with us, but the water is quite refreshing and we can't stay in for very long. But that's okay, there probably wouldn't be much to see anyway.

In the evening, we make our way back. After showering, we happily notice that the feared sunburn didn't happen. The sunscreen delivers on its promise, at least where we applied it. You can clearly see on Chrissi's feet where she stopped applying and Basti forgot about a fist-sized spot on the right side of his chest. But all in all, it's okay for so much sun.

Today evening we are having burgers. We've been looking forward to that all day. And they turned out delicious, of course.

We spend the evening comfortably in the camper, reading. Tomorrow, the weather is supposed to be cloudy and windy again. Storm gusts are forecasted, which are said to be twice as strong as yesterday. We will probably leave here again tomorrow.
