After the first night in the cozy guest room, today I hit the road heading east. In the next few days, I plan to visit the first capital city - Vilnius. The journey is the destination. That's why I'm not going as far as planned, but instead I'm stopping shortly after Jurbarkas. The campsite is great. I'm almost alone and have full service for only seven euros. Before dinner, I take a short exploration ride with the bike. Right next door is an old castle which is now a five-star hotel. But honestly, I prefer to be in my rooftop tent, next to the croaking frogs, the calling cuckoo, and the rustling birch trees. Now it's time to cook something for the first time and soon I'll probably head to the cozy bed.
Language is a tricky thing. I don't speak any of the three languages, except for the usual polite phrases, but it still works. With English, German, and a friendly smile, you can achieve a lot. I have met many friendly and helpful people at the kebab stand, in the grocery store, or at the strawberry stand by the road. But I have also encountered a Lithuanian tank column, which made me pensive.
The vastness of the country and the blue sky impress me. It's exciting to explore all of this!
