The Night Noise

The tent meadow is located in close proximity to the sanitary building, which is air-conditioned. The operational noise of the air conditioning and ventilation is actually only heard significantly in the toilets and washrooms. Our tent roof acted as a resonating body and amplified the operational noise in the tent quite loudly, even though it was practically not audible outside.

The Day

The Untermaßfeld JVA is a functioning prison with a museum. In 1813, the “Arbeits- und Zuchthausanstalt zu Maßfeld” was opened as a penal institution by Saxony-Meiningen.

It already seems bizarre, the modern security around the historical building. But the North Lights are happy about it:

In Grimmenthal, an American pilot crashed on a field during World War II. Parts of the aircraft were accidentally found in 2011.

In the afternoon, we reach the Thuringia-Bavaria state border near Adelhausen, which was fenced in from three sides during the GDR era. Shortly thereafter, we reach the destination.
