Like every day, the first hours of the day were spent enjoying the view. Today we wanted to visit Rotorua, the city that has countless geysers and hot springs to offer. However, the first thing that strikes you is the almost unbearable smell of sulfur, which you have to accept.
We headed to a geyser, but we weren't lucky when it came to the fountain. However, the holes in the ground filled with boiling water and the lake that had a strange yellow-gray glow were also quite interesting. When do you ever see something like that in Germany?
After Rotorua, the search for a place to sleep started again. Today, not by the sea, but at a lookout point between two lakes. On the left side was Lake Tikitapu and on the right side was Lake Rotokakahi, which were only separated by a small piece of land where our lookout was located.
We grabbed the camping chairs, packed a beer, and headed to the lake where we spent the rest of the evening and could see an amazing sunset. Simply a dream.
