Home sweet home

E phatlaladitšwe: 17.08.2024

Some may have wondered why there was nothing to read here on the blog. We are back home, the journey ended on July 30, 2024, after 364 days on the road.

I'm finding it a bit challenging to adjust to the new everyday life, primarily because we now have so much space!

First, we cleared out Palumbi, diligently washed laundry, and pondered where all the stuff from the caravan would fit in the apartment, etc. It took a few days for everything to return to its rightful place.

On top of that, there were tasks like gardening, car servicing, and much more.

On one hand, it’s nice to be back; the people from the rescue dog team made this very clear with their warm welcome.

It was no different with family, to be honest, as we all kept them in suspense, only giving them August as a time frame so we could arrive in peace.

How wonderful it is at home, we actually know this, as our dogs show us this daily. Every walk is an adventure; every scent from another dog must be thoroughly sniffed, and they are so excited! The training was almost back to normal!!!!

Fortunately, arriving was still associated with some free days, so I could get to know my new workplace, take Schrottie to the workshop again, visit friends, go to the café with Christian, and so on.

Despite his injury, Christian is already tinkering away, as we hope to find a lover for Palumbi. The new caravan still needs some parts like a solar system and other things, and he has eagerly started working on that.

But everything in good time; saying goodbye to Palumbi is incredibly hard for me. If Christian hadn’t ruined my mattress with bitumen due to a stupid incident, I probably would have slept in the Jet for the first nights; I’m just now getting used to the old bed......
