Puerto Viejo de Talamanca

Since we have already seen a lot in Costa Rica and the country was also a bit expensive for us, we decided to only visit one more place here. Puerto Viejo is one of the last places on the Caribbean coast before Panama. The popular tourist destination is especially known for its relaxed atmosphere. Our guide described Puerto Viejo very aptly: Even though drugs, especially marijuana, are sold on every corner, that doesn't mean it's legal here.  ;)

Despite a police control, even the hairdresser asked us if we wanted to buy something from him. Many of the hostel visitors get stuck here and have been here for weeks or months. 

But enough of that, now I want to write a bit more about this truly charming place. We took the opportunity to try Caribbean fish with rice and beans in one of the many sodas (what a surprise, rice and beans again ;) ) 

The main means of transportation there are these cool, colorful vintage bikes. We also rented one for a day and rode along the beach. We also visited a chocolate museum again, another national park, and an animal rescue center. Of course, you will get a lot of pictures of the cute baby monkeys and sloths. 

We really liked Puerto Viejo with its unique atmosphere, but curiosity is driving us further. Our next destination will be Bocas del Toro, a paradise island on the coast of Panama. Hasta luego!
