Mahahual - our first snorkeling spot

We spent the next three days in Mahahual, a place undergoing changes. New hotels are being built everywhere, and more and more tourists are flocking to the village. Especially the cruise ships that dock here bring thousands of tourists during the day. After several failed snorkeling attempts, we found a protected spot full of fish and rays. It felt like being in the middle of an aquarium. With some luck, I could even observe Dory from Finding Nemo. The day was perfect, as we had discovered a lonely, kilometer-long sandy beach beforehand. And even my stomach bug and endless nights over the toilet bowl didn't spoil our memories of the place. But now I've had enough shrimp.
