After about 21 hours of total travel time, we arrived at our accommodation in Singapore on Tuesday, feeling quite exhausted. The flight went from Munich via Milan to Singapore. Upon arrival at the airport in Singapore, we decided to take the Airport Shuttle Bus. (After it turned out that we were dropped off as the last passengers after over 1.5 hours of unwanted (city tour) drive, not a particularly good decision).
We are staying at Marina Bay Sands for 2 nights. Singapore is definitely a city of superlatives and the most "western" Asian city we have visited so far. On the first day, we spent exclusively at Marina Bay Sands (with shopping center and casino, there is a lot to offer here) and the immediate surroundings. We were simply too exhausted for further tours on this day.
Absolutely worth seeing at night: Gardens by the Bay. Since everything is incredibly well illuminated in the dark, it is worth coming here in the evening.
Every day at 8pm & 9pm (on Friday & Saturday also at 10pm), a free light and water show called Spectra takes place at the Marina Bay Event Plaza. We could see it perfectly from our hotel room. The show should be easily visible from any other direction around.
From the other bank of the bay (e.g. Merlion Park), you can get a nice view of Marina Bay Sands with the museum and Helix Bridge etc. on the opposite side.
The view from the Marina Bay Sands pool is truly breathtaking. If you don't stay at the hotel, you can also enjoy the view from the Sky Park (admission fee required) or the CeLaVie Restaurant. We went up during an approaching thunderstorm (see photos).
On the day of departure, we were (unfortunately in the rain) in Little India. There are very nice colorful houses and delicious Indian food 😋
In general, we can recommend using public transportation (MRT) for activities in Singapore. Easy to understand, cheap, and fast.
Tonight we will continue to the airport and off to Australia - Melbourne.
