So. 26.6.: - Edmonton Fort

E phatlaladitšwe: 02.07.2022

Thanks to daylight saving time, the night is already over at 3 o'clock. Sunshine and bright blue sky accompany us through this warm day.

We meet Karen at Sherwoodpark Alliance Church. During our greeting, Doug and Lucille from the 500 km away Saskatchewan suddenly appear in front of us! A surprise for Karen and us!

There are a few tears shed and we are greeted by many people over coffee and small talk at the church. The children are amazed by the design of the church, reminiscent of a concert hall, and the melodious gospel singing. They even dare to go alone into the children's area (Sunday school) of the church. After the entertaining church service, there are still many interesting conversations and often questions about gasoline and energy costs in Germany.

Afterwards, Karen, Doug and Lucille accompany us to Edmonton Fort.

In this Heritage Park, the Edmonton of the past centuries is brought to life with reconstructed architecture, including an Indian camp, the fort at Hudson Bay, and entire streets with cars, trams, and steam locomotives. People in historical clothing bring the streets and houses to life. There is also a historical amusement park which is a great experience for the kids.

Friederike and Clemens learn about haskap berries (also known as honeyberries) during a short visit to Brenda. We also taste the jam made from these sweet elongated blue berries, of which Brenda has 1100 bushes. Due to the many nutrients they contain, these berries are very healthy and also (we have tested) very tasty!

On the way back, the children are already fast asleep at 6 o'clock after this eventful day.
