Jumping competition 23.09.2018

E phatlaladitšwe: 30.09.2018

On Sunday, I went to a jumping competition with Sophie and an acquaintance of hers. We traveled for 1 1/2 hours by train until Sophie's acquaintance picked us up at the train station and drove us to the competition. The acquaintance, Rainer, is Sophie's aunt's uncle in Germany. He is originally from Germany but has been living in Australia for 50 years. Since he works as a riding instructor and Sophie knows how much I love horses, she organized the trip for us. Rainer speaks pretty good German considering that he has been living in Australia for 50 years. We spoke in German and English during the conversation.

One of Rainer's riding students participated in this competition, whom he introduced to us when we arrived there. Equestrian competitions in Australia cannot be compared to German ones. The tasks that were ridden were comparable to German ones, but there were no visitors there to watch. There were only the trainers of each rider and maybe one more person from each.

It was really nice for me to breathe in the horse air again and to have something to do with horses, even though it reminded me of home.

In the end, after Rainer's student completed her test, I was even allowed to sit on the horse for a photo, of course.

After the equestrian competition, Rainer drove with us to the coast of Mornington Peninsula, where you had a breathtaking view and could walk along the cliffs.

Afterwards, we had dinner at a restaurant and then took the train back home.
