So that was it. Our last hiking day. It's incredible how quickly the journey has gone by... But on this, our final day, we were richly and completely rewarded with wonderful weather! After passing Grosmont after about 7km, a lovely little place where everything revolves around its steam railway..., we continued towards the Falling Foss Waterfall in a very pretty woodland, where we unexpectedly enjoyed an Italian quiche and a good cappuccino for lunch. After that, we walked through heathland towards the North Sea, which we always kept in sight for motivation. Upon arriving at the coast (just 7km to Robin Hood's Bay), everything went surprisingly quickly (after a few sips of energy gel). The next time we looked at our map, it was only 1km to the destination. We couldn't believe it... In the end, after an impressive 35.5km on day 16 and a total of 293km, we tossed the stones we had brought from the Irish Sea into the North Sea. What a crowning and emotional conclusion!
PS: Maybe a few tears were shed too...
