February 19th
In our time here in Argentina, we have learned a lot.
How to make mate, what asado is, that buses are often late, or how to pack a hiking backpack properly.
However, we also learned that such a journey means giving up the familiar for the time being, such as a fixed accommodation... or cheese and salami.
Already in the first few days, we realized that cheese and salami are relatively expensive compared to our daily budget.
Well, what to do now?
I already told you how we got some samples in a store.
Since that moment, the idea of having a cheese and salami sandwich dinner was born.
Today was finally the day!
The weather was perfect. Our stomachs were in a good mood, and so were we.
So off to the store, which looked like the promised land to us.
After a few customers who took less time than us were finished, it was our turn.
20 minutes later, packed with 3 loaves of cheese, enough salami, and bread, we quickly headed to the Sierro de la Mor, as the sun was slowly setting.
Just in time, we reached the summit of the small hill.
Just in time to see how the sun illuminated the mountains, the surrounding barren land, and the place (which looked more like an oasis with all the trees) in a unique light.
I can't describe this happiness and joy properly.
I could only say that it was more than beautiful.
With a bottle of wine, we enjoyed the salami, cheese, and bread. Hard to describe.
In terms of "gastric pleasure" (Frank Rosin), it wasn't even close.
For me, and I think it applied to all of us: it was the best!
We had everything one could wish for. Great food! A beautiful sunset! A great view!
As the sun slowly disappeared behind the tree tops, it became dark and the city lights came on.
Some brighter, some darker...
But Mother Nature had something else in store instead of the sun.
A starry sky!
And it truly earned that name!
I have never seen so many stars and such a clear night in my life...
While we looked up at the sky, 2 dogs joined us.
Maybe they were as captivated as we were.
Who knows...
This day will stay in my memory for a long time!
It was getting late and with joy and happiness, we started our descent to the campsite, which by now felt like home...
