On our way up!

E phatlaladitšwe: 31.08.2017

Our way out was called Luis-Fernando. Our tutor, with whom we immediately got along, offered us a previously empty double room in his apartment. We didn't need any time to think and gratefully accepted.
In return, we offered him supportive help with his tutoring duties. Help that he urgently needed, because about 50 international students came this week. Each one had to be picked up or at least informed about all the important things. Room keys, Wi-Fi, supermarkets, duvets and pillows, other equipment, and so on.
This (of course voluntary) assistant job had the positive side effect that you got to know many different people and cultures and could already make initial contacts. Besides, we didn't have anything else to do, and it was a welcome pastime. (Greetings go out to the train station in Imatra)
However, ten hours of work per day were more the rule than the exception. Sometimes we sat planning for the next day until two o'clock in the morning, but the fun was never neglected.
Chaotic incidents such as missing beds or mattresses, incorrect room bookings, and many communication problems, of course, included.
Nevertheless, our perfectly harmonious trio dealt with the emerging problems with great seriousness.

After our 'move', we reached the summit. Fresh coffee in the morning. More cutlery than we could use in a day. Vacuum cleaner. Relaxation area including couch. Balcony including fire pit and sofa. Sauna is reserved for two hours on Saturdays. The seventh season of 'Game of Thrones' could be finished here. DAZN now also works in Finland through a trick. Netflix is unlocked, even with American programming. We are living the dream of every student. Moods can change so quickly. We have now come so far that we are considering buying our own washing machine so that we don't have to reserve specific times...

From now on, the semester abroad can really begin. We are ready.

Tomorrow we have our first orientation course. University has been a little forgotten in the last few days, but we are still excited about what awaits us tomorrow. No matter what it is, we are sure that a really good time awaits us here!
