In a day trip, you can discover many beautiful places in Mauritius.
Delicious tropical fruits 🍍🍍 grow everywhere.
In Chamarel, you can admire 'La Terre des Sept Couleurs' (The Land of Seven Colors). Unfortunately, it was a bit cloudy for us, so it wasn't as colorful, but still beautiful. 🌈
Fact: The whole island is of volcanic origin, and the colors are due to the transformation of basalt lava into clay minerals. The water-soluble components have been washed away by tropical weathering conditions. Only the reddish/black iron oxide Fe2O3 and the aluminum oxide remain, which produce the colors blue, violet-blue, and blue-green.
You can also see the famous giant tortoises there.
Fact: Tortoises are among the oldest reptiles on Earth. They were on land long before the dinosaurs and later in the water. But unfortunately, almost all 313 species are endangered. Giant tortoises are therefore cared for and bred in nature parks to save them from extinction.
