Tag 7: Mitterkirchen - Zwentendorf

E phatlaladitšwe: 07.05.2024

Today, after breakfast at the guesthouse, we headed back onto the bike path. I don't know exactly why, but the route at the beginning was really bad... almost 15km directly on the main road, "separated" only by a shoulder. It looked better on the other side of the Danube, but both sides are officially signposted.

Afterwards, the paths were great again. Some of them were newly laid out and asphalted. I feel like I haven't ridden on gravel roads since Passau. Today's route went through the Wachau, a very nice area. You keep driving through small wine villages and there are "Heurige" (comparable to a broom in our region) everywhere. Today, things went very well again. Because it started to rain, I looked for a guesthouse in Zwentendorf. It is now less than 2000 kilometers of river to the mouth of the Danube. At the confluence of the Brigach and Bregenz in Donaueschingen, it was still 2811 km.

Tomorrow I have a relaxed 50km to Vienna, where I will meet Maren (Nicola's stepsister) and spend the night.
