Day 16: Belgrade (outskirts) - Kovin

E phatlaladitšwe: 16.05.2024

This morning I had to make do with a banana and a cereal bar. After taking down the tent (the wind almost blew the tent away), we headed into Belgrade. In Belgrade itself there is a good cycle path right along the Danube. I didn't look at the city itself, but it seems very lively. In some corners you can see very run-down buildings, but in some parts it is also very modern. After a coffee I set off out of Belgrade. It wasn't that nice in places (right next to the highway, with no shoulder...) but once that part was behind me I headed straight into nature. From then on, with a few small breaks, I basically only went along a dam with a footpath. This is where the east wind really hit. I was crawling along at 8 km/h... It was really exhausting, both physically and mentally, as you had to constantly be careful to have a good grip on the handlebars in case a gust of wind came from the side. It was very exhausting, I would say the most exhausting day of the tour so far!

The path itself was actually beautiful, next to the dam there was pure nature! Unfortunately I wasn't able to really enjoy it today.

After 86km the batteries were empty and I got a room at the Grad Spa Hotel in Kovin! Firstly, I didn't feel like driving to the next campsite and secondly, rain was forecast for tonight. I don't really need to camp.
