Sleeping in is not possible today because Grandma Regina and Grandpa Frank leave the house at 8 o'clock to catch the ferry to Denmark in Kristiansand. So we get up early and pack our things. After breakfast, we say goodbye. Michael and Simone also bike away from the farm shortly after 9 o'clock. They want to go to Stavanger to catch the ferry to Hirthals (DK) in the evening.
Now we hand over the house and make our own way to Kristiansand. It starts raining right at the beginning and doesn't stop. We reach the distance of 250 kilometers after 3.5 hours. We check into our room at the hotel and enjoy a free fresh waffle from the waffle iron. We decide to venture outside and walk to the city center. After about a kilometer, we visit the cathedral. The cathedral of Kristiansand is a neo-Gothic church built in 1885.
It is the third cathedral built in Kristiansand and one of the largest cathedrals in Norway.
The cathedral is located in the same place as the three previous churches that were destroyed by fires. We light a candle and admire the church. The wooden roof trusses are visible and look good. Now we continue walking to a small shopping center. I buy new pants for Erik. We would have liked to see more of the city, but the weather doesn't allow it. We are soaked and return to the hotel. On the way, we get a pizza for dinner. We go to bed early. We are grateful for the very good weather of the last 2 weeks, without which the vacation would only be half as enjoyable.
