Actually, we wanted to spend another night by the fjords. However, since it was raining all day again, we decided to just drive along the Aurlandsfjord for a bit and then use the rainy weather for a longer drive towards Bergen.
That's easier said than done! The Aurlandsfjord is considered one of the most beautiful fjords in Norway. We can only confirm that. Our visibility was not the best due to the weather, but what we saw was once again breathtaking. There was a large cruise ship anchored in the port of Flam. The village of Aurlandsvangen was located on the slope of the mountain behind the fjord and seemed dreamy and romantic to us.
Through numerous tunnels blasted into the mountains, our journey took us further west. Near the village of Vossenvangen on Lake Vangsvatnet, we found our spot for the night.
In the village, we found an inexpensive gas station where a liter of diesel only cost about €1.40. Diesel is more popular than gasoline in Scandinavia, hence the high prices. But we also saw a lot of electric cars. In larger cities, you can find power sockets and USB ports under almost every table in restaurants. We even saw USB ports in buses! Germany could learn a thing or two from that.
