First day in Taipei
On my first day, I had planned to take a ride on the Maokong Gondola. From there, you have a great view of the city and there are famous tea houses. Unfortunately, a major holiday is coming up and many people are on vacation. The line was so long that I decided to postpone the ride and visit the nearby zoo instead. Besides the animals, the fauna was particularly fascinating.
After enjoying a noodle soup, I continued on.
To avoid taking the subway again, I decided to take a bike ride along the Shuishou Expressway, along the Tamsui River.
The bike path is well-traveled and the cooler wind along the river felt refreshing in the summer heat (28°C).
When I arrived at the main train station, I also bought the obligatory Starbucks cup. 🤣 and then made my way to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial. I missed the flag parade, but the memorial, the National Theater, and the National Concert Hall were impressive.
I managed to make my way back to the Xinyi district almost flawlessly, made a quick stop at the 7-11 for a snack, and then collapsed into bed, exhausted but also thrilled with the day.
