Tag 1: DUS-AMS-BOS

E phatlaladitšwe: 15.09.2018

Our friends picked us up today at 06:00 AM and drove us to the airport in Dusseldorf.

Check-in at DUS took quite a long time, but everything went well and we departed to Amsterdam at 08:15.

We had a layover of two hours in Amsterdam and everything went smoothly. We found everything easily and my initial concerns of us wandering around aimlessly like two provincials turned out to be unfounded.

Our flight with Delta to Boston was at 11:15. Again, everything was great. The flight was calm, the onboard service was really good, and we arrived on time.

We arrived in Boston around 13:00 local time.

Immigration was no problem at all. We quickly got our luggage and then went out to the next shuttle bus to the car rental center.

It was a bit more difficult there because the lady at the counter had a really demanding accent, and we were not willing to buy a bunch of additional services since we had already booked everything important through ADAC from home.

After finally getting the car, we set off to our first destination.

The Hilton in Marlborough. The distance from Boston should be around 30-40 miles. It took us about three hours. It was really challenging, and we still don't really understand why. I think the navigation system led us in circles for a while.

But oh well. We made it and arrived at the hotel around 18:00 local time.

We took a shower first and then had a small meal. After that, it was time to call it a day.

After 22.5 hours, it's time to sleep now. Tomorrow is another day.
