Mont Saint-Michel - a MUST!

E phatlaladitšwe: 02.09.2022

But we took our time and first had a day for washing and repairing. My front wheel was flat, the laundry bag was full, and the weather was perfect. In addition, the sun also offered to recharge all our batteries, which is a lot of fun with our solar panel and external battery. I appreciate this not insignificant acquisition on every sunny day. It makes us a bit more independent.

In the afternoon, friends of Micha suddenly appeared in front of us. We had forgotten that they were also traveling in Normandy and they contacted us based on the blog and knew approximately where we were. So we spent 2 wonderful, entertaining days together and visited the imposing Mont Saint-Michel, which sits in the mud ('The Name of the Rose' says hello). It is truly a miracle that this static masterpiece - despite fires and collapsing walls - has been preserved over the years. A favorable circumstance was that it served as a prison for many years and was therefore not demolished. It was only Napoleon who dissolved this prison for cost reasons. Also interesting was that only 60 monks lived here at its peak, who prayed for 8 hours a day and then copied and illustrated manuscripts.
