Taipei and two steps back

E phatlaladitšwe: 13.12.2018

The farewell from Chiang Mai was a bit of a change. On the last day, it poured buckets all day for the first time. On top of that, my stomach and intestines acted up in the last night and completely emptied themselves. I was already wondering how well the last 3 weeks had been going without any problems. Of course, this is now very inconvenient as I feel like I'm giving away all the strength in my body. The travel medicine kit has activated charcoal tablets, if that doesn't help, I will quickly seek a doctor in Taipei to get back on my feet as soon as possible.

Regarding the flight, I flew with Air Asia at 9 PM local time to Taipei and arrived at 2:30 AM local time in the morning. The time is pushed forward by another 1 hour. The only positive thing is that if I find a TV anywhere at the airport, I might be able to watch the Champions League.

Arriving in Taipei, I was at the hostel at 4:30 AM. They had sent me the door code in advance, so I could drop off my things and lie down on the couch. Since my gut feeling didn't bode well, my firm plan was to seek medical advice first. I hope that medication can speed up the healing process.

In the hospital, I received several tablets to take 3 times a day, but the examination was rather inconclusive. Now all that's left for me is to accept the situation as it is. I'm actually not in the mood for the city anymore, the weather in Taipei is also always rainy. I'm tired of hostels and being stuck in one place. I find it very difficult to accept my own weakness and deal with it. On Friday evening, I will decide whether to leave on Saturday morning. Until then, I will try to implement Rons suggestion of bananas and rice as best as I can. If I'm honest, I haven't necessarily tried to change my diet drastically. It's working inside me and I will explore different options. Starting with accepting the weakness and still changing the things I don't want to do.

Positive things of today:

My sleep rhythm is intact despite the strange night on the plane and on the hostel couch

I picked up "my bike" and got to meet Max. He works at the bike shop and is my contact person. The day went like this: after breakfast and the hospital, I spent about 4 hours in the store. We had a meal together and I got to write down the first Taiwanese words. It's almost impossible to find a vocabulary list on the internet. The official language is Mandarin Chinese. It is mainly spoken in Taipei. In the hinterland of the island, I will probably get some smiles for my Taiwanese :-)

After I came back with my bike, I also packed it up to see how much and what I can take with me. The space is very limited. I won't list everything that made it into the bag, but underwear and socks will be worn twice :-D

Last point, I have time to think about what I want from the next few days and how I can achieve it. I don't think that can ever hurt.

Greetings to everyone
