And now the long-awaited stop at The Alchemist Brewery. I had already tried a can of their world-famous Heady Topper in Germany. This beer was ranked number 1 among all craft beers in the USA for 5 years. The brewery has also been voted number 1 among all breweries in the country in the past. The Heady Topper also laid the foundation for the recently popular NEIPAs.
The parking lot was completely crowded on Saturday afternoon, and the inside of the brewery with can and merchandise sales and tasting room was the same. Therefore, I only bought a few cans. There is another brewery near the Ben & Jerry's factory that only brews the main varieties, and the rest is brewed here.
Holy Cow (American IPA) 5%
The brewery's first beer and original flagship; Good spicy-grassy IPA, a bit too much bitterness.
Focal Banger (American IPA) 7%
Full-throttle Citra and Mosaic hopping, nice malt base (not at all heavy!), a touch too bitter for NEIPA.
Beelzebub (American Imperial Stout) 8%
Deep black, dark brown foam, aroma of minty dark chocolate, but tastes like Imperial Stout and only slightly like Black IPA; not enough aroma for Black IPA, too bitter.
