I'm already awake at 6 o'clock. I haven't had 8 hours of sleep in a long time. But I still feel a bit under the weather. Around 10 o'clock, I change the location and start writing a song. I don't get any further because a few cars down the road, two girls from Auckland have locked themselves out of their car. Two or three people try all tricks and constructions to unlock the car patiently until 1 o'clock. One of the rear windows of the Toyota is open two centimeters and the key is in the trunk. Around 2 o'clock, there is no other option but to break a small side window because the car can't be opened otherwise. We tried all "MacGyver methods" before. The girls thank me multiple times, especially for the invested time, but there is no need to thank me. The help, as far as possible, is a matter of course and this country has given me so much, so I can also give something back. One of the helpers tells me that he knows the original MacGyver and not just the modern copy. I tell him that I also know him and know nothing about a copy, and I feel very happy about it as a compliment. He looks at me briefly, smiles and continues shaking his head 😂 In the afternoon, I walk to Cape Reinga. What do I mean by walking. I feel injured and need to move urgently! So this turns into not a walk but trail running. DOC says it takes 5km and 3 hours for the one way. I jog there and back in that time 😋 and then jump directly into the waves of the bay. The bodyboard is given away afterwards, I won't be able to take it with me. I already have one at home anyway. After my first trail running round ever, I have spaghetti with sausages today. That seems to be a New Zealand specialty? After dinner, I talk to some neighbors and can give them a lot of tips. The starry sky is super clear in this night and the Milky Way can be photographed very well.
