Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The further you drive into the center, the more beautiful the buildings become. There is extreme poverty on the outskirts of the city, while skyscrapers dominate the center. That is the first impression of Kuala Lumpur.

The city is inhabited by Malaysians, Indians, and Chinese, all of whom stare at you intently. They stick to the bus windows, gaze from across the street, greet you from their cars or scooters with a 'how are you miss?' or 'hello pretty ladies'. You are anything but invisible here. It takes some getting used to. You might even find yourself voluntarily putting on long pants and black t-shirts with sleeves and without a neckline in 34 degree heat. :)

Aside from that, I actually quite like the city. We first visited the Petrona Twin Towers, especially impressive at night. The tallest twin towers in the world!

The nearby park is also very beautiful and even has a swimming pool. (!)

There are also a number of malls here again and a small Times Square.

We also ate wonderfully here again. Highlights included Chinese noodle soup and Roti Canai for €0.25. That's a fantastic Indian bread with a fantastic Indian dip (curry, etc).

In between, we indulged in a smoothie bowl, or rather Esther had 3 :) The café owners already knew us, it's simply the best place to cool down and plan a bit and write in your journal after a long day.

We also visited the Batu Caves and a few mosques from the outside. The most impressive thing about the caves was the colorful Hindu temple in front and the stairs.

Can you tell I
Can you tell I'm sweating? 🧐

At 35 degrees, we climbed up the stairs, dressed warmly, past the monkeys. I somehow preferred not to take out my phone, afraid the monkeys would snatch it. When I reached the top, I nearly collapsed after not having done any exercise for 4 months. 🙃🙃

Next, we're heading to the Cameron Highlands for my birthday, woohoo! I'm very excited.

Until then. 🤙🏽
