Vocabulary of the day:
시간을 흘려요 (Sh-gan-ühl hüll-jo-jo)*
Time is running out...
... as the water flows down the Han River, time seems to slip through my fingers here.
*I always imagine you reading this out loud and I find it really funny! 😅
There are still so many places that must remain undiscovered, so many secrets that could be uncovered in this great city. But there is not enough time!
There is only one private lesson left and two lessons with my class, which I have actually grown quite fond of.
It's Tuesday, 9 p.m., and I'm sitting on the shore in Yeouido, where it's still almost 22 degrees. I look at the water and the lights of the city, listen to the street musician belting out his sad ballads, watch the couples and families and groups of friends, and let the sentimentality inside me slosh back and forth like the lazy waves that are driven onto the shore by passing boats.
It's 10 p.m. I arrive home with my hair slightly disheveled - a fresh breeze has come up by the river. The Namsan Tower is glowing green: the air quality is OK. I brought watermelon and 호두과자 (Hodu Gwa-dscha) for dinner from the subway station in Yeouido. The latter is a small wafer pastry in the shape of a walnut (Hodu = walnut), in this case filled with sweet red bean pastry and walnut pieces.
Outside my window, a small concert of honking starts. When driving, it becomes clear why South Koreans are known as the “Italians of Asia.” Fiery temperament, fast driving style and no patience.
I'm going to dive into the kitsch world of Netflix for a bit and then I'll get back to you soon. Maybe not until the weekend, because the last few days in Seoul are pretty jam-packed!
Until then, stay healthy or get healthy, and feel a big hug from someone who could use a hug right now. ❤️
