DAY 5: Abu Dhabi
Visited highlights: Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi
Today we take it easy. It's Saturday - the last day of the weekend. In the UAE, the weekend also falls on Friday and Saturday - Sunday is then the first working day again.
Since my relatives have the day off today, we plan a family trip to the Yas Waterpark. Much to the delight of the children!
We enjoy discounted admission and lunch coupons. It's convenient to be with 'expats'.
After sleeping in and having a leisurely breakfast, we head over to YAS Island, where the water park, Ferrari World, and racetrack are located.
The water park is crowded. We manage to find a few free loungers near the kids' pool, which is immediately conquered by our son. I test the slides and wave pool with my daughter (which our son also loves!). There's also 'rafting' and channels that you can 'float through' with a tube. However, it's not as thrilling and exciting as at Aquaventure in Dubai. But we still enjoy it!
Since it's unfortunately very crowded, we give up after waiting for 1 hour in line for the 'Tube Slide' and start looking for other slides.
There's not much going on at the roller coaster, so we take a ride on the roller coaster in our bathing suits - a whole new feeling. In the afternoon, the park starts to empty out and we're lucky at the TUBE Slide: it's so empty that we can get right into the tubes and slide down the slides (there are 2 slides with large tubes for 6-8 people) 2-3 times in a row. So much fun!!!
When the sun sets (unfortunately it happens around 5/6 pm), we pack up our things and head home. A relaxing day with lots of sliding and swimming has come to an end! We had so much fun!
In the evening, we enjoy a BBQ in the villa and for the first time (according to my relatives), we can relax on the terrace at 10 pm. It's because it's the first evening after summer when the temperature drops below 30 degrees. And at 28 degrees, it's perfect to sit back with a cocktail in hand.
