On Saturday, we took a trip to Zadar. The mainland is connected to the south by a bridge and Zadar is about 80 km away. It was worth taking our car for such trips 😅.
First, we met up with friends at a café who were just on their way back. Then we had a stroll in Zadar. We could park right by the water and easily reach the old town island by a small pedestrian bridge. The old town is nice. However, the view of the beautiful old walls is greatly affected by the 70s architectural sins in-between. We found cities like Rovinj, Pula, Poreč, or Krk somehow more "harmonious". One sight or rather sound worth experiencing was the Sea Organ. We had never seen anything like it before.
On the way back, we stopped at the "Zaton Holiday Resort" campsite, a large and well-known campsite that sounds great on the internet and in the camping guide and was recommended to us by our camping neighbors. And we found it absolutely terrible! Crowded, noisy, cramped, and the beach (sandy beach, wow!) is a catastrophe in my opinion. But see for yourself, in the pictures I have put our beach section here on Pag next to the "great" sandy beach in Zaton. Where would you rather be?
Since our friends had just come from Split and also told us about the overcrowded and noisy campsite there, we decided to stay here for a while on that day. Even if that means that we will miss Dubrovnik - vacation is where you feel comfortable 😍
