Cat Ba Island

E phatlaladitšwe: 26.12.2017

Monday 18.12 - Friday 29.12.

Our first stop is the Woodstock Beach Camp.

We set up our tent right on the beach and have a fantastic view of the sea.

The first two evenings it is bitterly cold and we need our down jackets for a long time.

The next 4 days consist of climbing in the Butterfly Valley.

At lunchtime there is always a delicious meal.

(actually it's always the same: spring rolls, omelette, rice and a meat dish with carrots and zucchini - but I think it's great)

On the 20th of December other cyclists suddenly appear on our beach

Our Swiss friends
Our Swiss friends

Gregor and Claudi from St. Gallen.
They will spend the next few days with us.

On the 23rd of December we move to the 'city' because we no longer like the hustle and bustle in the camp and the not particularly tasty, slightly overpriced food.
Our new accommodation is wonderful, we even have a rain shower!!! Fantastic.
And all this for $3/night including breakfast.

On the 24th of December we go climbing in Hidden Valley and in the evening we go to our favorite restaurant yummy together with the Swiss and treat ourselves to a delicious dinner....

Another great day was the first Christmas day.
We rented a boat for the 5 of us and went to Moodybeach.
It is in the middle of the Lan Ha Bay and it is just as beautiful as Hanlong Bay.
The small beach belongs to us alone.
We spend the day climbing, eating and relaxing there.
Afterwards, the captain takes us through the bay and to a small 'fishing village' where they show us, among other things, sharks and a giant fish.
The remaining days on the island are a bit rainy and therefore unsuitable for climbing.
( Patrick and Isi go climbing in a cave once, I cycle around and find a beautiful viewpoint)

Tomorrow we're going back to Hanoi to a host family... Let's see
