I've been cycling every day for a week now and I'm feeling pretty good, despite the many kilometers and some tough climbs. The preparation on the spinning bike helped. My bum is still usable too, the cyclist cream is doing its best.
Last night there were heavy thunderstorms and rain showers, in the morning it stopped raining and I arrived at the ferry station dry. The Zigljen - Prizna ferry drove away from me, but it wasn't bad, it runs about every hour. Then I continued north over the steep mainland to the ferry station in Rab. Then I caught the ferry from Stinica to Misnjak to the island of Rab before midday.
Despite the rain radar, which said it would get better from 9:00 a.m., the rain still caught me, and it really did! The weather god held the watering can over me for the whole island of Rab. There was no way to get shelter, at some point it didn't matter anyway, wetter than wet is impossible. It wasn't that bad, almost like taking a warm shower with clothes on. In Lopar, the ferry port to Krk, I changed at the ticket office. I continued on by ferry to the island of Krk, it was still raining. I took the risk of getting wet a second time and stayed overnight in the town of Krk and did some sightseeing, and stayed dry.
Today was real island hopping:
From the overnight stop on the island of Pag to the ferry port, took the ferry to the mainland over the mountains to the ferry station in Rab, took the ferry to Rab, crossed the whole of Rab (in the rain) to the ferry station in Krk (only runs twice a day), drove to the island of Krk and booked an overnight stay in the town of the same name.
You can see that I had a lot of waiting time today and a lot of time to write
Oh yes, Pepe has booked the trip and will be joining us in Venice on Monday, May 27th, 2024 in the morning.
Tomorrow we're heading towards R
