Autumn day in Sosopol

Publisert: 16.10.2017

After a stormy night, we woke up with a magnificent view of the Nessebar Peninsula. Only the weather had not improved and we hardly dared to go outside, so we decided to have breakfast in the car instead (which hadn't happened since Scandinavia). Despite the weather, we decided to drive to the promising Sosopol today. Here we had the same view as in Nessebar: beautiful, small, old town with lots of harbor, water, alleys, houses, history, etc. and for this reason perfectly touristically developed, but already mentally and morally completely in the off-season: we only saw one tourist guide, there was no one on the beach anymore due to the weather, the supermarket shelves were shockingly reduced, and the recurring rain affected the mood of some of us so incredibly that we sneaked into a café and preferred to watch the heavy waves from a cozy distance while having hot drinks and cakes.

So after a quiet afternoon, we said goodbye to the beautiful Black Sea coast and now wanted to continue inland and find a campsite for the night on our way to Plovdiv. However, our electronic research instruments reported that there were virtually no camping sites or that they had already closed in the immediate vicinity. In addition, a storm warning had been issued for the coast for the following night (which actually resulted in the death of two Bulgarians), so we found one of the many vacant hotel rooms, which was small and inexpensive, and (after a randomly passing grandpa finally activated the hotel operator for us by phone) we were ultimately very relieved about this decision.
