This morning, we are not woken up by an alarm clock or a rooster, but by the gentle sound of the waves, so we sleep in a little later. By the way, we are already sleeping in the sixth bed (and twice in the airplane seat), although the bed in Kauai was clearly the best.
After a leisurely breakfast, we decide to embrace the Christmas spirit and search for cookie recipes. A short time later, we are walking to the nearby shopping center (every American would take the car for the 500 meters!). There we buy the necessary ingredients and some groceries. Back at the accommodation, we start making the dough. Our stomachs are already rumbling. So we have a classic Hawaiian toast - which fits perfectly. Since the dough should rest for a while, we take a trip to the beach and start reading the books we've brought with us since day 1. But we can't stay long because it's very windy and there's some drizzle coming from somewhere. The clouds are far away, but the wind carries the rain to us. As compensation, there is a huge rainbow.
Since we are already a little wet and sandy, we decide to take a short dip in the sea. We can even watch some people fishing. We call it American sport fishing, because the fish they catch are immediately thrown back into the sea. No idea why...
Back in the condo, we start baking cookies, but where do we get the cookie cutters from??? A bit of ingenuity is required - see for yourself.
Under Hawaiian conditions, we bake so-called Hawaiian cookies in various shapes :-) In between, we still admire the beautiful sunset right outside the front door.
All in all, our oven has been running constantly since last night: Homemade pizza including dough, Hawaiian toast, Hawaiian cookies, homemade omelette. And tomorrow there will be something special. But that's for tomorrow...
