Today we crossed the river Altmühl for the first time. This is the namesake of THE top bike path in southern Germany. Let's see if it lives up to what the bike magazines promise. The route to Gunzenhausen is scenic, but there is still room for improvement. The town itself, with its approximately 16,000 inhabitants, surprises with an intact and lively pedestrian zone and property prices like in Hannover. The savings bank has just changed its opening hours: daily lunch break, and then open only in the afternoon on four days. Until 4:00 p.m. Only on Thursdays until 6:00 p.m. Just like 'back in the day' :) By the way, Altmühlsee is a reservoir for (high) water compensation with the Main River. However, since it is so flat here, the dam had to be built all around and with 12.5 km it is the longest in Germany. Looks like the dykes in northern Germany. Well, all good things come from the north.
