Many impressions on the night market in Krabi

Gepubliceerd: 02.04.2019

In the evening of the same day, after we climbed the Tiger Cave Temple and plunged into the crowd at the Emerald Pools, we also visited the night market in Krabi. In the morning, we had already registered at the reception of our hotel for a shared taxi, which picked us up promptly at 6 pm. We pick up a few more people and off we go to the night market. On the way, it starts pouring rain. But no reason to worry. When we arrive, it's already over - as it is in Thailand. One moment it pours like buckets, the next it's over, only the humidity is even more unbearable than usual.

Even the search for a parking space is - at least for us Westerners - interesting. We are squeezed in from all ends and corners until it finally fits. But that's nothing new here either. Now we just have to remember where the van is parked so that we can meet again at the same spot at 9 pm. The market is right across the street. So, let's dive into the crowd! As soon as we enter the market, we are almost overwhelmed by the many impressions. Strange sounds, peculiar smells, lots of people, and heat. Here you can also buy all sorts of odds and ends and souvenirs, but we are more interested in the food. Honestly, we are only here today for one reason: to fill our bellies. And that's what we do. We try all sorts of interesting things. Some things we already know, but also many things we don't know yet. Most of it is very delicious and - we love that about Thailand - incredibly cheap! The market is not very big, so we are done quite quickly. But no problem, we just circle the market several times. In the middle, there is also a large square with a stage and tables where you can eat your food. If you can find a place, that is.

As the time goes by, the market gets more crowded, so that in some places it is hardly possible to pass through. Eventually, it becomes too much for us as well, so we are glad that we will be picked up soon. By now, we are so full that we can't eat anything else anyway.

At 9 pm sharp, we are picked up and taken back to the hotel. We really enjoyed the visit to the market! The selection of delicacies was diverse, the prices cheap, and the impressions will stay vividly in our memory for quite some time. If you're in Krabi, make sure not to miss the night market!
