After two hundred kilometers further south, the forests here now look like autumn is just beginning - what a stark contrast to the completely yellow to deep orange high plains in the north.
We must be doing something wrong, the rain seems to be following us. Today it has at least become less throughout the day and, who would have thought, the temperature is back in double digits: 12*C already sounds warm.
Today we visited Umeå and once again realized that Swedish towns have something special. The pedestrian zone there is so big that it's worth taking a stroll. A few kilometers after Umeå, we followed a striking sign to a sight called Norrbyskär, but had no idea what was worth seeing there. In the meantime, I have found out that Europe's largest sawmill used to be there. But our trip ended at a ferry terminal - outside the season, only three times a day does anything go there - so a complete flop.
The next larger city we passed through was Örnsköldsvik. The city impresses with individual buildings that are a real eye-catcher with their architecture. We climbed the house mountain and looked at the whole thing from above. Today we stranded at a campsite by the lake in Ramvik. After a sermon about how bad the weather is this year, that it is the only open campsite in the area, that heating costs are too expensive and that it has rained too much in the last few days, the campsite manager finally let us go, with a good tip for a beautiful viewpoint nearby.
