After a 6-hour drive, we arrived on the east coast of Malaysia. We take a speedboat to the larger of the two Perhentian Islands. We want to take a few days off from traveling and instead relax in a hammock and the water. The island is simply paradise with its light blue water and little development. There are no paved roads and only accommodations, restaurants, and dive schools on the beaches. The interior of the island is covered in jungle. There is also no internet here, so we can completely relax. The water temperature is almost 30°C.

We spend the days snorkeling and diving, lying in the hammock and reading, or playing a round of beach volleyball.

While snorkeling and diving, we can see similar but different fish than in the Great Barrier Reef. Among other things, we see a blacktip shark, turtles, moray eels, blue-spotted stingrays, pufferfish, lionfish, lots of clownfish, surgeonfish, parrotfish, barracudas, and a few more.

One evening, we spend with our Spanish roommate Xavi in a beach bar. He is about to finish his studies in Shanghai after studying in London and Dubai.

We have a wonderful time that unfortunately passes too quickly.
