Bangkok - Chiang Mai by night train

So...yesterday we had enough of the Bangkok air and decided to travel north on the same day, to Chiang Mai, a city in the mountainous north of Thailand. Said and done, booked a night train (about 15-20 euros/person) and saved on hostel accommodation ;-) So we walked into the train station and wondered why everyone was stopping and what crazy music was playing here...Oops it was the anthem that is played 3 times a day and everyone immediately stops working :D Now we know that too :) To wait, we sat down on the floor like everyone else and watched the stray cats. The journey lasted 13.5 hours, but it was fine as we had a comfortable bed!

This morning at 9:15 am we arrived in Chiang Mai. First impressions --> BaanLansa hostel is very nice --> English is not very widespread here, but we can communicate with gestures and broken English :-) --> it's definitely a world apart from Bangkok - much more nature - birds chirping - not as much traffic!!

Tomorrow we have a 2-day trekking tour planned through the jungle, then we'll be in touch again!
