Haaaaaallooooo everyone ☺️
Today was a really great day! We started off very comfortably outside on our patio and looked for the perfect bike trail for today in a book. We decided on a red trail (medium level) to better understand the trail assessment by the author. The plan was 53 kilometers, 1021 meters of elevation gain, estimated time: 5:30 hours. The route was absolutely amazing! The landscape changed constantly, just like the trail we were on. After about 28 kilometers, we reached a great place with lots of caves where we took a break. Then, as you would expect from us, we had one of our infamous flat tires. There were lots of broken glass pieces on the road, which Kevin's rear tire couldn't handle anymore - flat tire! Oh well... We looked at the map for an alternative, more direct route and found one - but it was a hiking trail. Otherwise, there was nothing to see for miles... Of course, we were completely isolated in Sardinia's alpine mountains ☺️Sometimes we had to walk with our bikes to protect the rims, and then we could ride again. After a relatively short time, we reached a rock at the top of the mountain, and we climbed up briefly to get an overview: trees and fields as far as the eye could see! Alright, there's no way around it, let's keep going! The path led over rocks and stones, merged into a dry riverbed that apparently also serves as a hiking trail, and ultimately led us back to our motorhome! Kevin also had a flat tire in the front wheel for the last 10 kilometers, so we were really grateful to have reached our motorhome relatively problem-free ☺️Afterwards, we looked for a place to stay for the night (it was already 6 pm when we got back) and found one nearby! Only a 30-minute drive, and during that drive, we actually found a bicycle shop! We stopped there briefly and bought new tubes and tires for Kevin, aaand: two tire repair kits for the road ☺️We've wanted something like this for a long time, but always somehow forgot about it... Ten minutes later, we were already at our spot for the day. It's really great! Right by the sea, in the meadow, and there are even benches with chairs - really cozy! We'll make some food here and enjoy a cozy evening. So, see you tomorrow, my dears! ☺️Oh yeah, regarding the trail: 40.3 km, 1130 meters of elevation gain, 3:18 hours.
