Today we're heading to the West Coast. It's surprisingly difficult for us to leave the cozy breakfast table in the bright sunshine. However, we have a long way to go, so we better not linger too long. We can take a coffee break soon. Said and done... after an hour, we spot a nice café by the roadside. 2 Flat Whites and a wagon-wheel-sized Chocolate Chunk Cookie are just the right boost for us! Well... the cookie isn't quite that big, but it's still enough for two. We discuss the final details of the route, choose the campsite for the evening (we're considering another dip in the hot tub).
Today, the route is once again idyllic! Forests, meadows, fields, sheep, cows, goats, and rivers. Time flies with such views. However, the contrast to the West Coast is remarkable. It's no surprise that the drive is increasingly interrupted by photo stops. The Pancake Rocks are particularly spectacular. For these sights, we gladly accept that I almost smashed my knee and the doll almost fell down a staircase... everything has a price, and special wonders of nature have a higher one.
After this very successful day, we arrive at our campsite in Greymouth. We quickly settle in and I quickly run to the reception to secure a slot in the hot tub for us. But what do I hear? The receptionist tells me with great joy that the hot tub was cleaned today and was just turned back on... it won't be at temperature until tomorrow... Great... well, let's go back to the doll. After hearing this news, she pouts a little... well, not seriously. Actually, we're almost amused by this coincidence. It's not as warm here on the West Coast... and quite windy too! We have to move inside. Our bedroom quickly turns into a dining and living room. Actually quite cozy and the transformation is quick. Due to the weather, but also because she has to, there's pumpkin soup as an appetizer. Despite the windy conditions, the doll ventures outside to the grill 😊😍. We enjoy our first evening IN the compact castle!
